At Cuts Without Borders, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights — especially as a Black traveler trusting us with your data across borders.

1. Who We Are Cuts Without Borders (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates www.cutswithoutborders.com, a platform connecting clients with barbers who specialize in textured and Afro hair worldwide.

2. Information We Collect

From All Users

IP address, browser type, device info, and approximate location
Pages visited and time spent on the site (via cookies & analytics)
Search terms you use (city, hair type, service, etc.)

When You Create an Account or Book

Name, email address, phone number
Profile photo (optional)
Booking history and preferences
Payment information (processed securely by Stripe — we never store full card details)

When You’re a Barber

Business name, address, photos/videos of your work
Government ID or business registration (for verification only)
Bank details (for future payouts, if we add direct payments)

Reviews & Messages

Anything you choose to write in reviews or send via contact forms

3. How We Use Your Information

To show you relevant barbers in the cities you’re traveling to
To process bookings and send confirmation emails/SMS
To let barbers contact you about your appointment
To improve the platform (analytics & heatmaps)
To prevent fraud and keep the community safe
To send occasional marketing emails (you can unsubscribe anytime)

4. Cookies & Tracking We use essential cookies to make the site work and optional ones (Google Analytics, Hotjar, Meta Pixel) to understand how people use the platform. You can turn non-essential cookies off in your browser or via the cookie banner.

5. Who We Share Your Data With

The barber you book (name, phone, service requested)
Stripe (for payments)
Cloudflare & hosting providers (technical infrastructure)
Admin team (for support and moderation)
Law enforcement (only if legally required)

We never sell your personal data.

6. Data Across Borders Since we serve travelers globally, your data may be processed in the UK, EU, or USA. We use Standard Contractual Clauses and only work with partners who meet strict privacy standards.

7. How Long We Keep Your Data

Account data: as long as your account is active
Booking data: 7 years (tax & accounting requirements)
Inactive accounts: deleted after 3 years

8. Your Rights (GDPR & UK GDPR) You can:

Access the data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate information
Delete your account and data (“right to be forgotten”)
Object to or restrict processing
Export your data

Just email hello@cutswithoutborders.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line and we’ll handle it within 30 days (usually much faster).

9. Children Our platform is not intended for anyone under 16. If we discover we’ve collected data from a child under 16, we will delete it immediately.

10. Security We use HTTPS, encryption, and regular security audits. While no system is 100% secure, we do everything reasonable to protect your information.

11. Changes to This Policy We’ll email you and show a banner if we make big changes. Continued use of the site means you accept the updated policy.
